Uh, well, if Google did it I'm sure Yahoo and MSN would shut them out.

Anyone care to help me with this?
I've got a jabber connection, and gave it my ICQ number. I'm shown as online, but everytime someone messages me via ICQ it replies back with the same message that was sent, and I don't get a copy of it on my BB, nor do any of my ICQ contacts show up on my BB.
Are there some G-talk settings I'm missing? I did the setup as per the instructions in the first post.

Are you sure that you've accepted the connections? Go into Gmail via Internet Explorer on the comp and take a look on the left side in the contact list. Do you see a gray box asking to accept? I authorize everyone from Gmail.

I keep getting that I do not have the required service books for googletalk. I have done all the steps recommended on their support page for it, even had my provider resend the books, still nothing...any ideas?

Was the service book reception successful? Did you remove the battery and put it back in? Try re-registering with the host routing table (in the options). Check also your APN under the TCP area in options. Last but not least, remove the application and reinstall.

Yup, I accepted both on the web, and on my handheld...again, could it be that my google talk and AIM password and login are the same?

My wife and I had a 302 error or something earlier. Waited a while tonight and tried again. Works okay.

Re: having to stay connected w/ Miranda for it to work properly...
Something weird goes on in GMail...
I disconnected w/ Miranda for a couple hours, and then Google Talk doesn't recognize my contacts anymore. Then EVERY AIM contact gets auto-emailed by GMail w/ this (it appears in my sent box, even though I never sent):
Quote:
I've been using Google Talk and thought you might like to try it out.
We can use it to call each other for free over the internet. Here's an
invitation to download Google Talk. Give it a try!

You'll need to click this link to be able to chat with [name].
To get Gmail - a free email account from Google with over 2,600 megabytes of

- Powerful spam protection
- Built-in search for finding your messages and a helpful way of organizing

that are relevant to the content of your messages
- Instant messaging capabilities right inside Gmail
All this, and its yours for free. But wait, there's more! You can also get
Google Talk:

Its a small Windows* download that lets you make free calls to your friends
through your computer. It's simple and clutter-free, and it works with any
computer speaker and microphone.
Gmail and Google Talk are still in beta. We're working hard to add new features
and make improvements, so we might also ask for your comments and suggestions
periodically. We appreciate your help in making our products even better!

Folks, on Google Talk, if you receive Server 302 error, that is probably because your TCP does not contain an APN address. Please go into your Options, and depending on your OS, you may need to go into advanced options. Then get into the TCP area. If you're on T-Mobile, APN should be wap.voicestream.com. I'm sorry, not sure about other carriers, but do a search on top for APN.
