Interesting 8700 Case
Please Login to Remove!
Came across an interesting case whilst surfing the web for work. A company named Reeline makes cases under the brand name Ripoffs for EMTs medical professionals, police, etc. I noticed they had a category for PDAs and they make a case for the 8700c, model CO-129FF. This is a vertical case and does have the sleeper magnets. Upon calling the company, they are going to custom make a horizontal case for me that will have the magnets as well. I was impressed that they were interested in making a new design with the magnets and added durability I wanted. Their cases are well padded, for occasions where protection of the device outweighs looking fancy. Cost? $24.95 + S&H Worth the money to try it at that price. http://www.ripoffs.com/datasheets/co129/co129ff.html

I used a Rip Offs holster with my Treo 600 a few years back.
They make a nice product. It's all black nylon, light weight, strong metal clip (no swivel) and Velcro closure.

Th black BOA case. It does not have the magnet from my understanding but it is so easy to put your own magnet in them. I think the case looks great and the flap is removable if you want to convert it to a pouch style.
Link to magnets: http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetai...od=D701&cat=10
Just glue or tape it in and cover it with microfiber cloth or something that won't scratch your BB

I'm VERY interested in seeing pics of your case when you get, and particularly the sleeper magnet install you're going to perform. Will you post pics?

I'll post some pics when I get it in. I just read from another thread that it may include the magnet. I'll let you know.

Excellent. I was thinking that if it does not have the magnet, would placing a magnet on the outside of the case, on the portion adjacent to your waist, be strong enough to go through the case and put it to sleep? If so, I could probably have a seamstress stitch one on there really nicely and cleanly. What do you think?

The magnet should work on the outside. There are many different magnet sizes to choose from the website in the earlier post. If you have a seamstress to sew it on for you that would make it look more professional.

That was my thinking as well. Will this case allow me to put it in facing my hip? I imagine so. That way I can still get the quick draw feature with it facing me on the way out.

The metal clip v. swivel is what attracted me to the case. Prior phones with swivel clips seem to dislodge themselves from the clip, particularly whist driving. Often I didn't notice until I was halfway through the movie in the theatre, shopping in the mall, on the 9th tee, etc., then panic would set in. I too will post photos when I get the case

<I've merged these two threads>
Blexcroid is the only person who's posted here about ordering one and therefore the only one likely to post a review.
It's been a while since the post was made about ordering one.
Any updates Blexcroid?

It seems like the Ripoffs CO-129FFMv2 is specifically designed for the 8700.

It looks pretty good.

Where are they available?
I didn't think Rip-Offs sold direct.

Coming from a public safety background, I have quite a bit of experience with Rip-Off cases. My duty belt has 3 Rip-Off products on it, all of them are over 5 years old and have held up well (even the velcro). There are sold direct retail in many public safety related stores... I'll be ordering one for my 8700 now.

I was thinking of picking this up, if I land the job I'm applying for where I'll have to wear a duty belt.
It looks pretty cool,
Anyone order one of these?
