Yes. But with NO DATA at all. But it should work.
Actually, it all depends on how she gets her e-mail. It may be done; it may not.

When she gets home - tell her the truth.

I removed the battery to do a reset, but still no browser icon. What am I missing?
I had similar problems when trying to upgrade to 4.1 on my Cingular 7100g. I breezed through the upgrade (probably my prob!) and when I rebooted the HH, it just came up with multiple screens overlapping and the entire screen would go almost enirely black... one of those "ah s...!" moments. I finally was able to get csl 4.1 loaded, but I had to hard boot, wipe, unload 3rd party apps, reload 4.1.256 (the lower version). This got me to having a 4.1 OS, but my browser was missing, the help icon was jacked and I kept getting the following errors when I tried BBlocal and any internet function:
- javalang.NullPointerException
- uncaught exception: ApplicationRegistry.waitFor(Ox3bc6259193b4b87c) timeout

I then figured out why (in my case at least). I had cingular's 4.1 DM software still installed. I removed and installed CSL's 4.1 DM version. The version #'s are shown as 4.1.0.10 (Cingular) and 4.1.0.13(CSL) in the bb download page, but they are both showing 4.1.0.10 in the "Help/About DM" menu when installed.

Once I loaded the CSL DM (4.1.0.13), I then reloaded the OS (4.1.256 first, w.o any 3rd party apps). Then I rebooted and loaded/upgraded to the 4.1.300 OS version. Then and only then did my broswer and help icon straighten out. I tried the service books, registering under HRT and thought I was doomed to return to 4.0.

Can't promise this will work on TMO, but it's a lot of trial and error.

JH, I think we are having similar problems although I am with TMo. You sound like your problems have been resolved. Mine have not. Where are you looking to find these version #'s? Is it under Applications? If so, I show simply "Browser" at rel. 4.1 and "Javascript Package" under Browser at rel. 4.1.

Under Modules, browser type entries all show as 4.1.0.292. There is nothing that is specific to any carrier.

One thing I do note (prehaps, realted) is this: Under Network, it is set to Automatic and the network is "Cingular" (I am with T-Mo and the banners all say T-Mobile). When I change Automatic to Manual and scan for available networks, it find T-Mobile (as well as Cingular). Selecting T-Mobile, however, does not change the network (still shows Cinglular).

Any thougths on any of this?

Stumped with 4.1, but still liking it better...

Jim

Default Missing browser icon

Also, one additional information item... The downloadthat I used was:

7100C_PBrER4[1].1.0_rel300_PL1.8.0.143_A4.1.0.292_CSL.exe

and I did the step about removing the vednor.xml file...

Jim,

This is the same .exe I used. It is version 4.1.0.300 and consists of:
Applications: 4.1.0.292
Software Platform: 1.8.0.143
File name: 7100C_PBrER4.1.0_rel300_PL1.8.0.143_A4.1.0.292_CSL .exe

If you go under Options/About, it will show you the detail version # that you have loaded onto your handheld. Sounds like you have it loaded onto your handheld.

My browser icon "reappeared" after I went through the Desktop Manager switch out. But I was careful to remove any 3rd party apps as well. I would recommend that you take a look at the Desktop Manager version and removing your 3rd party apps (then reinstalling your OS).

- remove 3rd party apps (I hard booted, wiped and hard booted again before next step)
- reinstall 4.1.0.300 OS
- check Desktop Manager version (remove TMO and use CSL)
- reinstall 3rd party apps

I haven't had any problems since I went through this and am please with 4.1 as they have "fixed" some of the bugs in 4.0 (or updated how they do them).

Let me know if this works. Keep in mind, you'll have to remove the xml file as well and add the blackberry.alx file again when reinstalling.

I don't think it is network related. I have mine set to Automatic as well. It may be showing Cingular as the Network, simply because of where you are at (reception).

HartmanBJ, I thought I had gone throug hthe upgrade of DM to 4.1 but looking at it now, it is still at 4.0. I searched for the original forum messages for the download link to DM4.1 but could not find it again. (To the "search police", I tried multiple combinations of searches...)

Could you direct me to the DM 4.1 upgrrade link?

Also, how doe I do a "wipe" as you indicate?

If you do a search on " CSL 4.1.0.300", Jibi was kind enough to post the links for 710x and 7290. Click on the 710x and select the DM 4.1 link. Make sure you choose the correct type (71xx vs 72xx)

To wipe your handheld, use one of the 3.

Javaloader, BES Admn or manually (Security Setting/General Options)
