I bought the battery and 8700c door from SPD (excellent service!). It fits perfectly and works well, easily doubling the time. While the battery is fatter I can still fit my phone into my Sena case (although it does offset the screen by less than 1mm). It's a good deal all around if you rely on your BB.

Will this work in the new BB 8700c pouch case from SPD?

I think the major power consumers are the screen and radio so.....

Keeping the screen lit up for any reason (playing games a lot?) makes a big difference. Especially if it's running at high brightness.

The radio will automaically up its xmit power (to two watts IIRC!!) if you're in a weak signal area in an attempt to maintain a connection. All phones are like this and all suffer from dramatically reduced battery life in weak signal coverage areas. If these happen to be at home or work (where you spend a lot of your time) I'd expect you to really notice an impact in battery life. If, at max power level, the phone still has marginal connectivity and thus doesn't give up trying, you'll also have a situation where it's transmitting (at the high power level) more often!

Default extended battery and sleep mode

I received the extended Battery today and it seems like the sleep mode doesnt work now in my leather case. switching back to the original battery the sleep mode works. With the extended battery in and case on it fits fine in my case as deep as it did before. Any thoughts ?

Which case are you using?

The OEM case, sleep mode works with the ext battery just fine (face in or out).

I recieved my extended battery on Monday. I charged it that night and began using it Tuesday. I adjusted the backlight to 100% and never turned the phone off. I had to charge it today after checking the battery status and it was at 20%. Now this is with mmoderate usage. I send and recieve an average of 40 emails a day, browse the internet about 2 hours per day, and make or recieve about 8-10 calls per day. I would say this battery is easily the best upgrade you can make for your BB.

Question for you guys - i received my extended battery yesterday and immediately put it in my blackberry and drained it until my phone automatically shutoff. Then threw it in my external battery charger (the in the wall one) and left it overnight thinking that it would be done by morning. However, to my surprise, its still red, and its now 3:11 PM! Is this normal?

Default Extended life battery and Seidio holster

I just ordered the Seidio holster, and now want the extended battery. Will the holster still work with this battery?

Ok, on further inspection, I noticed that the light on the charger is RED when the battery is inserted, rather than the usual orange/amber color. It has been red since the minute i put it in the charger yesterday - I just didn't know there was a differnce until I put in my OEM battery (Which charged just fine, from Amber to Green). Perhaps my extended battery is faulty? I just put it into my phone after 24 hours in the charger and it has 0 juice. Do i have to do something special to it before using?

Either it's the power of suggestion...or you're right! It DOES seem easier.
Why would that be?
The battery is made by RIM.

As for the ease of use thing, the extra weight and thickness makes it feel better in the hands. Try using it for a few weeks then go back to the standard battery. It feels awkward by comparison

Try charging it on th BB with the reqular charger. If it doesn't take a charge it is the battery. If it does it means the extended battery does not charge using the external charger. Look and see if the battery contacts line up with the charging contacts on the external charger.
