Default New BB Owner converting from PalmOS

I stumbled across this site, after winning an e-bay auction for a 7230. I'm looking forward to getting my blackberry (monday, january 10th!!)

I recently owned a palm zire 71. I lost it, and figured i can always call a phone and find it.

Heres the real question--

are there any other community sites for software that have free downloads? I'm a college student (not the typical blackberry owner, i know) and I'd like to see what software is here now, and what software is in development.

actually and I had another question. Using those magmic games, if I don't have the blackberry plan from t-mobile (i'm mainly using the blackberry for contacts/memos/phone, not as much for e-mail) can i still play games from them?

What are the advantages/disadvantages application wise to not having blackberry internet?

You check out RIM Road http://www.rimroad.com/software.html they have one of the larger download selections for Blackberry's. Keep in mind the Blackberry is not a Palm, if your looking for a tone of third party apps you might be hard pressed...

1. yes you can play games without blackberry data/internet plan. http://www.magmic.com/download.php

2. not having blackberry data/internet plan will lead to not having email/internet/instant messenger/remote access/ssh and any online capabilities etc.

If possible, you definitely should do a trial on a BlackBerry plan.

It's very nice to be able to real push email wirelessly.
It's very nice to be able to chat on instant messaging (AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo) from anywhere, using Verichat software.

You can read more information about these things in my BlackBerry FAQ.

Gmail works great on the Blackberry -- there's two ways to get Gmail on your BlackBerry, but the best way is to use the forwarding feature in your Gmail account.

I second it. There is a 15 min lag when you use POP access
