Hello everyone, I'm new to the BB world and I have just picked up a used 9800. The phone was locked to Telstra (I'm in Australia) and I followed these instructions to get it unlocked.

Can't post a youtube URL because I don't have an adequate post count... It is the video that describes how to unlock the Bb using unlock2go from bbunlock.

When in the sim settings it says "Network - Disabled" as it should, but for some reason everything works as per the video, but when I put my vodafone sim in, it says "vodafone australia" up the top of the screen, but won't allow any incoming or outgoing calls.

If anyone has any idea, I'd be greatly appreciative.

I would try a battery pull with the SIM card in and the device running. If it still fails to make/receive calls, a call to Vodafone is in order.

I've tried turning the phone on and off but not a battery pull. The sim works in my other uocked phone, so I don't think it's a vodafone issue. Thanks for your help, I'll try the battery pull.

If the SIM is even a couple years old your new BlackBerry might gag on it. Vodafone can replace your old SIM with a new one at little or no cost, in about 5 minutes.

Sounds like the phone may have been blocked altogether. If you send us the IMEI as a private message (don't post it on the forum) we can check for you to see if that's the case.
