You have two choices currently on the PlayBook:

1. Bridge your PlayBook with a BlackBerry phone which has your e-mail setup on it, or
2. Use the browser on the PlayBook to check your e-mail via a web interface (Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.).

Stand-alone PIM (e-mail, calendar, contacts, etc.) is coming to the PlayBook this summer.

thanks Ian, i think you understand what i am trying to arrive at. looks like i need to wait to have stand alone PIM especially the email.

That means we can only set up stand alone email for gmail, yahoo, hotmail and aol at this point ?

As ifonline said..

You check you email via the bridge to the BlackBerry phone; at the moment no phone no pop email.

No. On the PlayBook, the only way to check e-mail outside of Bridge is via the web browser. So, any e-mail that you can access via the web (examples being Gmail, Hotmail, etc.) you can access on the PlayBook web browser. Although I use the Bridge, I can access my work e-mail via Outlook Web Access, if I want to, via the web browser. I can access my old MobileMe e-mail account via the web browser. My point is that any e-mail account that gives you access via the web can be checked via the web browser on the PlayBook, not just Gmail, Hotmail, AOL, etc.

A proper, stand-alone e-mail client is coming soon, but isn't currently available.
