First, which device do you have- the 8320 per your profile or the 8230 per the post?

The 8320 doesn't have GPS. The 8230 does.

To get a GPS signal, you need to be outside with a clear view of the sky. It can take 20 minutes or so to lock on. To get useful information, you need a BB data plan and a map application such as Google Maps.

Please update your profile.

How long does it take before the window pops up?

Do you have location services set to "ON"?

Do you use Google Maps? If so I recommend it, since it uses cell tower data and triangulation to locate you within 1700-2500 meters. This will help the GPS lock on quicker.
