I have a client who was running BES Express 4.x on a old windows server which we replaced with a new sbs premium server. We installed BESX 5.x on the system, and added her as a user, and magically without needing to activate her, her blackberry starting syncing????? anyone seen this before?

Secondly and much more importantly, contacts and appointments that existed before, have duplicated on the phone only.

How can I remove the older duplicates?

That can happen if you activate on a new server without wiping the device before. You might have two calendars and two contact lists on your Blackberry now.

First you have to find out which is your active calendar / contacts. Then you have to delete the service books of the unused calendar / contacts.

Im not agree with freakinvibe. its true that you don't need to reactivate the device. But the device data is duplicated because it internal database was corrupted. So, if you install desktop manager, delete de Desktop[SYNC] service book, and coonect the bbrry to the DM, you will be able to delete just the databases that are duplicated. This is in the first menu > dele data. Then, go to service book > menu > undelete, and thats it.
