My cousin gave me his old blackberry 8300 basically I don't have a data plan but I do have unlimited texting and calls so if I insert my sim card and use it will I recieve data charges?
Also he said he turned off the data services in moblie network options so I shoulndt be using data services...

Your on AT&T, who once finding an IMEI in their database of a blackberry, will automatically add a blackberry data plan.

If the device is an ATT branded BB or is unlocked, it should work with your SIM, but as MD said above, you will automatically get the BB data plan once ATT scans and sees that it is a BB.

Ok thanks guys now if I stop using blackberry and swtich to my old phone (lg shine) will the data plan go away since I've only used it for a couple of hours?
And how much is the blackberry data plan?

If it has been added, it won't "go away" until you call AT&T to cancel. If it was added, you would receive a text message saying that it had.

A personal BB data plan is $30 per month on AT&T.
