Default Using my storm abroad

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Storm 1 from Verizon. I am currently abroad and would like to use the same phone on a local GSM network. But i did not have my phone unlocked before leaving the US.

There are a few local companies who offer unlock services, but i am not sure if this will create any problems with the phone or with verizon when i return.

I want to unlock the phone, so i can insert my local T-Mobile sim and use with my storm.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

It won't create any problems with verizon when you return.

Thanks Midnight Draven.

So when i return to the US, i just remove the T-Mobile sim and the phone will register on the Verizon network, no problem?

Not sure how it works.
I believe you will have to change the network mode in mobile network to GSM when using the sim card, then change it back to whatever it currently is to get it back onto verizon.

Update:

The people here had issues unlocking the phone. I then called Verizon and the rep i spoke to walked me through unlocking it, step by step. At the end, i inserted a local SIM and it worked.

Verizon suggests you go into there store to unlock before you travel abroad.
