Default Changing License Models - soft to hard

Please Login to Remove!

BES 5.0.1.
I have been requested to prevent our support staff from adding more users to the BES using the BAS once we have reached our license limit. The only way I can see is to enforce a hard license model, whereby you are prevented from adding users when the license count reaches 0. My problem is that we seem to be on the soft license model, and the support staff just click "continue" when they get the big red message saying the license limit has been exceeded, without notifying anybody.

So, how do I switch fro mone to the other?

Not doing anything wrong.

AFAIK, there is no "hard" licensing model.

Look at it this way. A "hard" license enforcement is good, until somebody runs into your office and tells you that a new C level guy started this morning, sorry for the short notice, and he needs a BB right away. I just don't want to be the guy to say "sorry, takes 2 days to get a license".

I'm sure licenses are in a table somewhere.

Have now logged it with BESC to advise. CanuckBB, I ran that argument past the powers-that-be (except for T-mobile UK it tends to be 2 weeks waiting...) and they are insisting on changing it. Not for me to question why I suppose.

I know, management can be a pain sometimes. I explain it as a cash management issue. Licenses are cheaper in packs. So unless they can tell me that they will be adding 5, 10 users shortly, I'll let individuals go over until such a time as I can buy a 5-pack. But everybody is different.

You can get the CALS from RIM, it's faster.

You can get them through an online reseller too - faster and cheaper!

My feeling is that if RIM was serious about CAL enforcement, they would have made it a hard limit in the first place. No, that doesn't mean you abuse it, but it also means that you're not going to get into trouble from the compliancy police.
