With the new 9650 coming out on the 23rd, I have a question for the group. I have had nothing but problems with my 9630 and would like to trade it in for a 9650. The 9630 is still under warranty and I would like to know. If I took this back to Sprint say like in Aug. Would they trade me up to the 9650 or give me a refub 9630?

You will get a refurb 9630. They will not replace a 9630 with a 9650.

Strict 30-day exchange/return policy for anything but defects. And then it's up to Sprint to either replace it with the same device or choose a substitute for you.

I think that maybe the OP thinks that if he waits until August, they will be "out of Tour 9630s" and will "have" to give him an upgraded device.

Unfortunately, that's just wishful thinking. There are PLENTY of refurbs out there. ;)

This is why I only get 1 yr/10 month contracts. I picked up the 9630 July 12. Upgrade available May 12. OP needs to understand the carriers make their money off the plans not the discounted devices

Sprint keeps a pretty large supply of refurbished units. It will be a while after the Tour is no longer available before insurance/warranty repairs will yield you a 9650.
