Post BES 5.0 question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

I had few questions (for now) and I hope someone can help me.

I just recently installed BES 5.0 and notice that when logging onto the BAS using your active directory credentials you have to keep inputting the domain name. Is it there a way to save your domain name in the field so that you don't have to keep re-typing it everything you log on?

Also, why is it that the phone number and device model only show up for certain users when you manage users in the BAS. I would like this to show for all.

and lastly, Can I set the BAS to expire after a certain Idle time?

any advice would be great.

In the BAS, I think it is in Component view ->BAS. You should see a box named "Domain" which is blank. Fill in your domain there and it will always be entered upon login.
Not sure about the model, but the phone number has to be entered physically on the device, Go to SIM options and type the full phone number in there. Suspect the model will show up once activation has completed. Check the Wireless Activations menu if there were any errors during the policy send etc., might answer some questions.

BlackBerry Solution topology > BlackBerry Domain > Component view > View (BlackBerry Administration Service)
Click on the "Microsoft Active Directory Authentication" tab. It's the Default Domain textbox at the bottom of this page you need to change.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to configure the default domain.
Is there any way to send a policy that registers the phone number to the SIM? we have over 400 users and it's pretty impractical to go to each device.

I had the same problem regarding the phone numbers, unfortunately the only way the BES will register the phone number is if you insert it into the device. I had to send an email out to users and instruct them on how to do this.

If you install the monitoring service for BES, you can pull the phone numbers for your users in a report.

Under Reporting | Create Custom Report | Report Type is "User".

Much easier than sending out a mass email with instructions. Plus, then you don't have to deal with those crazy users :-D
