None of the ones I had(O2, tmobile, etc) or the ones you can download will work... i get a java exception everytime i try to activate one of them... has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions??

Did the upgrade on a 7100T from tmobile. Install went fine, but it didnt re initialize after loading 4.1 on there. Let it wait twice, didnt find it so i exited the desktop manager. Downloaded javaloader, etc, and was gonna pull the battery and pop it in before i went to do that.......

As soon as i pulled the usb cable, the screen came alive, got the hourglass, booted up, and 4.1 is installed. Dunno why it freaked out, but in the end it's installed with no issues. All themes etc work.

Thing i like is on my homescreen, i have 2 email shortcuts. One to compose using my standard email addy, the other to compose with my throw away (spam catcher) email. Pleasant little surprise!

You have to reboot after installing a third-party theme before it will show up in the themes menu.

You said everything else still throws an exception...what exception, exactly? Type out the exact error for us.

i did reboot but the themes still havent shown up in the menu... i have loaded several different ones... removed and reloaded theme reader several times... rebooting after each load... and they still havent shown up... as for trying to use the other themes... if i try to activate any themes other than default, default large icon, orange, or vodafone i get the message
"uncaught exception: java.lang.illegalArgumentException"

problem solved.. i started getting the error while running other programs so i erased everything and downloaded the install again and loaded the OS for the 3rd time.. this time everything works.. i dont know what the problem could have been... possibly a problem with the install download the first time around... regardless everything works now... thanks for the suggestions tho..

Just loaded up 4.1 on my TMO 7290. First thing I notice is the separation of email. I now have 3 message icons, each one corresponding to each email address I have setup to check.

The old view is still available -- just hit "C" in the Messages list.

For people like me who prefer the new view and the ability to hit "C" from the Main Icons screen, there is now a "C"ompose keypress shortcut utility available now:
NEW! Add "C"ompose keypress shortcut back to OS 4.1 QWERTY BlackBerry models!

The 4.1 os divided all my messages up into 3 folders. The 'Messages' now has all email from BES, 'Yahoo' folder has all my Yahoo email and 'TMO' folder has all messages set to my TMO email address. However, my new email still goes to the 'Message' folder. How do I set it up so they will automatically go to the right folder?
