Default how can I tell

Please Login to Remove!

I have a number of users who i am not sure are utilising their BB to the best advantage ie they wanted the devices but I am not sure if they are actually using them. On the BES I can see the status of the device ie running and when anything was last sent to the device but is there anyway of finding out when they last either sent an email or ( long shot!) read the actual email. If I contact our provider they can tell me how much data packets have been used but I need to know if they are actually responding to emails or just leaving the device turned on : phew ... any help greatly appreciated.

I do something similar, but only monitor Last Contact and Pending Packets in BES Manager. If it says a current date/time and zero packets pending, then they can always claim they are reading their e-mails but choosing not to reply to them at the present time. It's a game of your word vs theirs.

I would think if you are willing to review logs that you could see that they're sending messages... I know I've seen messages going to the device in the logs.

Thank you for the replies,. I can see packets going to the device but like you say it doesnt appear to show them sending them back out, I can identify how many have now been sent via the bes but again no timescales

Look at the sent items today and compare against the number tomorrow. Additionally, I have many many users that use it primarily as an email reader and they act of emails via telephone or other. Generally, if they are receiving mail, they are using it... You'll know they aren't if days go by with the device having no connection to the BES.

I have some users that use it as a reader only and call their customers.

I also have some the email on it heavily.

Only one person shuts it off for days at a time, he is a owner so I ignore it.

I just run a query that joins the dbo_UserConfig to AD and then cross reference anyone with the words "Sales", "Marketing", and "Chief" in the description field to determine who isn't utilizing their BBs
