Default Alarm Clock - does it turn the BB on automagically?

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings -

Just replaced an old Samsung phone with the BB 8520.

On the Samsung, there was a configuration setting that
allowed the phone to power on in accordance with
the alarm setting (tho' it was off by default).

Is there anything comparable on the BlackBerry?
Will the alarm clock turn on the unit if it's powered down?
Any configuration setting I need to enable?

Thanks.

- Richard

Richard,

Yes, the BlackBerry will power on when the alarm is scheduled to go off. You can also use the Auto On/Off feature to turn off and on your BB at whatever time suits you best.

Wirelessly posted

If you turn off with the power icon on the applications screen, do not select full power off. I know if you do, then calendar appointment alerts and such will not turn turn on the device. I suspect the same is true for the clock alarm, but haven't tested since a long time ago on different device and older OS. You may want to test it yourself.

Edit: Yeah. Just be sure and use the power buttomn, or select "turn off" if you use the icon. I just tested 9700/5.0.0.330 and if you turn off using the icon and select "full power off" the alarm will not power on the device and sound. But when you the user powers on the device, the snooze/dismiss dialog box is there and the alarm sounds.
