I was going to say "wow I'm surprised, VZW didn't push this to my BB like the 50 other useless icons" until I found the Skype icon LOL.

I used Skype when it first came out... but it's been a while.

I got a Skype icon too, now that you mention it. Have not tried it, not sure if I have a need for it.

I got a few friends that travel around the world... I Know they use Skype so I'll probably give them the heads up..

As long as my BlackBerry can handle skype I'll probably be keeping it.

Installed Skype Mobile and tried with many family members/friends around world yesterday, works great with surprisingly good voice quality! Now they can contact me without waiting for specific time that I have to sit in front of PC and with Skype on..... The only drawback is when you got the Skype call, it only displays "Skype Call" with the 440-xxx-xxxx VZW gateway number, you have no idea who is calling until you answered call. If this could do video call would be even better..... But unlikely.

This will not happen since the app requires VZW network access in order to function.

hm :( i guess they changed their code. i remember downloading a version on my Curve 8900 that was "for the Storm" but it worked perfectly fine on my Curve on T-Mobile.

I'm sure there's a way.

Anyone try downloading VZW OS on a different network?

Default Need older SKYPE (mobile version 1.0.0.5) for 9550

I hope someone can help. Installed ver. 1.0.0.5 while in US; this worked perfectly in Carribean over other carriers' networks. Recently, ver. 1.0.0.6 was downloaded--this one recognizes a foreign network and won't work outside US.

Can anyone provide the file (or a proper link) to ver 1.0.0.5 so that I can get back on SKYPE while abroad?

Many thanks.

Did you need to add skype minutes to talk to them on the skype line? Or was it as long as they were on their computer (or skype on their phone) that you could talk to them? I know that messaging is free, I was just wondering about the actual talking portion.
Thanks so much!

Talking (voice) Skype-to-Skype is free, too -- you need to use Skype minutes to call another international phone number (you cannot make a Skype call to a US number using the Skype app).

What about making a Skype call to a US cell phone number who has Skype. If that does not work, it is a no go.

That is still a free Skype-to-Skype call as long as you use the Skype username as opposed the the phone number -- when you make a Skype-to-Skype call, you do not know what is on the other end.

That seems that you have to make the call from the skype app. Is it possible to make the call direct from my contact list?

I also need to downgrade to 1.0.0.5 or the same reason. I am in Alaska and 1.0.0.6 does not work while roaming on another carrier's network.

Does anyone have a link or the file for 1.0.0.5?
