Default BB9700 - Is This Possible

Please Login to Remove!

1) BIS device - lock home screen so that it can not be changed by any user?
(Device will be used by multiple parties.)

2) Have a 3rd party app start after QuickPull restarts the device?

3) Have a 3rd party app always active in the background?

Thanking everyone in advance; help greatly appreciated!

Wirelessly posted

For what it's worth, I have a vague memory that yahoo messenger would launch with boot up, and would continue to run even when locked if the user elected to sign in automatically. Somewhere along the way this was stopped, and the app would sign out when the blackberry locked, and the user would have to launch the app again. From the message the app displayed, I gathered this was a change in security rationale on yahoo's part, and not the OS, but I'm not 100% sure thinking back on it. So, I assune #2 and #3 would likely be possible if building the app, but maybe/maybe not if considering an app on the market now. In the later case you would need to checkout the app, talk to the developer.

On #1, there's nothing on the stock device that I know of. Perhaps 3rd party, but I have no idea.

Thanks for replies...

1) Clarification - lock down icons and wallpaper on home screen or either one. Whatever is possible.

2) I've have development team look at this as we are the developers of the software that will run on the device. After restart this AM, both BeWeather and SmartWiFi had restarted.

Well YES this CAN be done ... via 3rd party lock software.
2 of which are available on AppWorld but at a cost.

The 3rd party apps will allow you to lock just about any application or core-app (memo, calendar, email, etc) individually, as a group collective, and all separately from the core device's lock & pw.

So you're choice for #1 is
a) have each developer lock the device manually by pressing the lock button, and thus set the security to screen backlight timeout to 30seconds along with password lock engaged.
b) use option a above & download install 3rd party app to invoke a deeper application/icon lock.

Cheers.
