Default @blackberry.com e-mail address on the Bold 2?

Please Login to Remove!

Alright

I've just picked up the new Bold 9700 (bold 2) and I was wondering how one goes about signing up for the @blackberry.com email addy.

I've bought it via 02 (UK carrier) and they've shown me how to get the @02email for the blackberry... but i'm more interested in having the @blackberry e-mail addy.

Is this possible? I'm sure i've seen it before...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers :D

You don't want or need the @blackberry address. Trust me.

Is there any links you could direct me to for registering or taking a preview at? Is there any service charge for it?

The user means the @carrier.blackberry.net address.

The reasons you don't want this address is due to the fact that you can only view the email on the BlackBerry. There is no web site or client to view the email on. If you ever switch carriers, you will lose the email address. There is no real spam filters for this address.

I just forward my home email to my blackberry.net address. It's simple and allows me to manage my mail easily. Because it doesn't replicate or sync I just manage them separately. How well it works would probably be determined by the volume of mail you have.

The "@carrier.blackberry.net" has it's uses, but certainly not as a primary point of contact or as an address you give out to everyone.

I use mine if I want to send something to my BB that I don't want replicated on my computer. It's like a private line.

Is what free? The email address? Yes, if you have a BlackBerry Data Plan.

If you are asking about something else, please be more specific.

If you are just wanting to be sure everyone knows you are using a BB, you can set up your signature so that anything sent from your BB uses the line that impresses everyone so much: Sent from my Blackberry.

General consensus on these forums is to NOT use the carrier BB email address due to lack of filtering and inability to read messages except on the BB. Guess you could set up a free email account such as Scotty_Blackberry@yahoo or @ gmail or whatever. But really, it's much easier to use your regular email account. Besides, you might switch to a Droid or something else next time you upgrade in a year or so.
