Default spam/junk email

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I hope you can help us. We are are a small company who've just got BB's. We've managed to set-up the email which works fine. The problem we are getting is all the junk mail is being sent to the BB from our web hosting server. I've spoken with them and they say minimal filtering is done their end (they actually put 'SPAM' before the email) and thats all they can do for what we pay each year. We have outlook filtering it into a seperate folder on the desktop which is easy to delete in one go but is there any way that it can be prevented from even getting to the BB?

Please go easy we are very good at shopfitting but terrible at IT.

Thank you in advance

SPAM filtering has to be done on the server side since RIM pulls your email directly from the email server, not from Outlook on your PC. If the ISP won't do anything, then maybe it is time to find a new host for your email.

If they put "SPAM" in the subject line, you might be able to set a filter to delete all with that word. You would have to play with it in BIS (I assume that you are using BIS).

Yeah I tried to do it through BIS which is on orange. Couldn't access it through my PC so I went through the BB. I couldn't see a way or option for filtering it unless you can tell me otherwise

Would have to log into the BIS site (not using the BB) and set the filter for the specific email account you wish.

I'm not sure about Orange, but on the AT&T BIS page the options for my email accounts are Edit, Filter and Delete. Filters can be setup based on Subject so you could filter anything with SPAM in it. I hope Orange allows the same flexibility.

can you give us a little bit more information about who handles your email?

--- also, if you *own* the domain, you can sign up and let google handle all your email / calendar / docs... etc.

i would recommend that because google cant be beat in terms of spam filtering and uptime (especially when you consider the pretty low costs for a small company)

I have this option for tmobile as well... i am pretty sure that *all* BIS pages allow this. OP should be able to use these options once he finds his BIS page (i got no idea where it is for Orange)
