Please Login to Remove!

hi there,I am in UK,and using a hutchison 3g sim card.just got a blackberry storm 9550,it is fully unlocked,I can do everything on it,but cant use browser(cant see the browser icon if turn on mobile signal),also cant use email service(there is no email setup option in setup menu). The mobile says, your device dose not currently have any browser configuration service
book entries, please contact your service provider to enable the brower on your device. called 3g service line several times, but the girls cant understand service book.
so please anybody can help me to get a uk 3g service book.
another problem is ,it cant upgrade to the latest OS 9550 5.0.0.497,the current OS is 9550 5.0.0.320,after I upgrade the OS,the os still remain the same if I check it in option menu.so is there any fatal problems with this mobile,I worried because I brought it from ebay.

thanks very much

firstly, do you mean your carrier is 3? (three)
hutchison 3g is not a UK carrier...I should know, im in the UK.

You need a blackberry data plan.

Only Orange offer Blackberry data plans on PAYG.
If you are paying for mobile internet as a monthly fee, you need to make sure its the BLACKBERRY plan and not a generic one.
Call 3 and ask them.
You NEED a BLACKBERRY plan.

write a email to vodafone, asking them if they can send me the service book,
they reply me as below
I would like to thank you for bringing this matter to my attention.

I am sorry you're upset and unhappy that you are unable to download the service books on your phone.

wrcknight, in order to download service books on your you need to create an email account on your phone.

I'm sorry to say that you will not be able to set up email account on your phone using a pay as you talk SIM card. You can only set up an email account and access an email account on your phone by using a pay monthly SIM card with Blackberry internet service active on the account.

So I have a question,if I get a pay monthly sim card put it into my 9550,can I creat a email account first, then received a service book, then do service book file backup, keep it in my computer, then put my pay as u go sim card in,download the service book form pc to 9550.
is this ok?If it is ok,how to do it?
please let me know.

Why email vodafone?
You carrier is 3, you need to call them, and get them to put the blackberry plan onto your account.

I still dont understand why you emailed vodafone. You have no connection them.

Its better to actually call them, because the email team and the phone team are different.

Well, you dont tell them its a Storm 2 for one thing.
The only model they carry is the 9000 Bold.

Secondly, just ask them how to get blackberry data on your account.
Tell them you are on a PAYG sim, paying extra for free internet, but was told you need to pay for blackberry internet.
Technical support is ALWAYS better than customer services.
