Up till now I was a passionate Nokia user, being essentialy happy with my phone and all the loaded apps. However my job requires my now get a Blackberry (well thanks Nokia for dropping Blackberry Connect), but at the same time I face the issue of our brutal IT policy, which basically doesnt allow any installations. However our IT guys told me that whatever I install before the IT policy kicks in, stays in.

So I am facing two issues where I will much much appreciate all your help!

1. At which point does the policy kicks in? Once I enter the password for the enterprise activation? I need to find a way to load all the apps I want before the IT policy kicks in. My SIM card has a full unlimited data plan next to the RIM data plan. Any hints how to prep the 9700 before it gets ruined by our policies?

2. I need some good hints on application and recommendations - RIM and nonRIM. I dont care too much about twitter and facebook and those things, but areas of interest are ---

- good turn based navigation with european coverage (offline preferred if existing)
- skype or msn
- multimedia capabilities
- some time killers (games, e.g. brainchallenge, strategies, etc)
- an independed email client? (As our policy will not allow e.g. gmail)

Some recommendations what to install? Your favourites?

1. Yes, when you are activated on the BES.

2. There are no good "offline" gps mapping/nav applications. For those you must download maps ahead of your need for them (can you imagine how large the files must be, at all different zoom levels, etc?). Free GPS apps AmazeGPS and Nav4All, Google Maps, see if they work in the EU.
No skype. MSN Live Messenger from Blackberry is worth it if you use that for IM.
Get some music apps that work in the EU, maybe Slacker.

thanks, so I assume as long as I refuse to enter the activation password or enter it wrongly I should be able to do with the phone as I please and just may have to ask our admin later-on to reset my password (since I ll be probably kicked off the service activation window by then).
