Default Where is the GPS-Receiver located?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

does anybody know where exactly the receiver for the GPS Signal is located in the BlackBerry Curve 8900?
Often when i try to get the GPS Position i don't know how to hold the phone to get the best reception.

Thank you, regards, franc

You don't need to hold the device any certain way. Up or flat on an auto dashboard, it's all inconsequential.

But if i have the phone in a pocket of thick leather, won't this give a lower signal? So which part of the phone i need to expose at minimum to the sky?

Usually the GPS antennas are located near the top of the device. So exposing the top rear of your device will give you better GPS reception.

If you have the device in the thick leather pocket, you are not actively using the GPS, like a map or whatever, right?

Anyway, I recall reading somewhere that the GPS receiver module on the circuit board is located in the middle of the device, basically about the lower portion of your screen.

But it doesn't matter.

I use it for tracking. And if it is raining, i don't want to expose the phone to the water.
