I'm about to install Blackberry Mgr on a XP system, so that user can do role base administration. I've got the 4.1.6.exe file. My question is, do I need to install that using the BES Service Acct or can I just use my account since I'm an admin?
Just confirmed with RIM that it must be installed with the BES service account. Just FYI.
That's crap. You can install the BB Manager on a local XP machine with your own Admin credentials. I have it running on 3 XP machines where I'm the admin on 2 of them and my backup is the admin on the 3rd.

Agreed with this. We routinely install Blackberry Manager on out Service Centre PC's, with the login account member of the Local Admins Group onthe PC. Just specify the Blackberry Service Account to create the MAPI profile and you're set. RIM must have misunderstood your intentions...

I do not know for Exchange, but for Domino remote BlackBerry Manager install, if you are using Windows Authentication, you need to ensure that the account you used can connect to the SQL server. For us, there is a also 2nd level permission and that's your Notes client must have last switched to an Administrator Notes ID that is also a member of the "BlackBerryAdmin" Domino groups. BlackBerry Manager takes the credentials from the last saved account information in the NOTES.INI file.
However if you are using SQL authentication, then there is no need to have the bes admin service account. As long as you can make a connection to the SQL server on port 1433, it should be fine.

Reason: Highlight Authentication methods.
