Exclamation Constant Download Failed Errors Over WiFi

Please Login to Remove!

I have been trying to find a solution to this issue for days all over the web and have come up empty-handed.

I have a Bold 9700 on at&t. I am using OS 5.0.0.405. I am connected via wifi (lit wifi icon) with an excellent signal and have been trying to download two rather large video files to my memory card. One 60MB and another 99MB. They both get about 1/4 to halfway downloaded and then all of a sudden I get a 'download failed' error. I have tried this over and over again.
  1. I assumed it would be much faster to download over wifi but the connection is not smooth and consistent. It downloads in intermittent bursts.
  2. I shouldn't be experiencing an issue downloading any sized file if I am downloading over my own secure wifi connection.
  3. I own the web server where the files are hosted and we have plenty of bandwidth. I can download both files to my ThinkPad in seconds.
Any help resolving this issue ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried powering off the modem and router, and powering back up and trying again?

Actually I haven't done that. I usually don't do that unless I absolutely have to. I have servers, PCs, laptops, phone system and other things that would have to be manually reset as well if I do that.

Please explain to me why you think that this could be causing the issue?

Because it has worked for me when downloads stop and don't complete, or when download rate slows to a crawl for no reason.

You might try a hard reset on the blackberry first. I looked at your original post again and see you didn't mention trying that. (With the blackberry power on, removed the battery for about 30 seconds.)
