Default Do these videos play on your Blackberry Curve?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I was thinking of buying the blackberry, but I needed to check if some types of videos would play on it (their specs page is not specific enough).

Could you tell me if these videos all work on your phone (taken from Elephant's dream, a free movie)?
WS: Megaupload (x264/aac 480x272)
Box: Megaupload (x264/aac 360x272)

Thank you in advance!!

PS: The files I uploaded are 100% legal, as they are from a movie that is open source!!

Why don't you download it and find out what format its in?

Generally most video formats can be converted into a format that will play on a BlackBerry device.

Thanks for your response Trimix.

I actually encoded thse videos and uploaded them. I added more details about the format next to the links.

The thing is that I have a bunch of videos already encoded for my PSP and it would be very time-consuming to convert them all for a Blackberry.
It would be ideal if my videos were to work on the Blackberry without re-encoding.

Let me know if it works on your phone! Thanks in advance!

Problem with your theory is, those are streaming videos... A curve is on EDGE, NOT 3G! It will more than likely look like crap and take forever to play... You are better off with a bold

First, thank you for your response.

But, I don't know what you mean by streaming. I was just asking if you guys could download the .zip files from those links and put the extracted .mp4 files on your and try to play them.

Yes. Blackberry can play mp4. However, you would still need to unzip using a computer, so why don't you just download them there? I'd would be much easier...

The thing is that I don't have a Blackberry. I was thinking of buying one, but the ability to play these .mp4 files is really important, so I want to confirm beforehand if they work.

They did not play on my 8330.

The problem is the encoding. The media player on the BB is a little touchy and the specs are not specific enough. There might be some h264 it can play but sound and framerate are variables that affect compatibility. You really have to experiment on your BB (if you get one). This is what I found out through trial and error for my 8330:

Size: 320x240 or less
Video Quality: 800 or less
Sound Quality: 128 or less in stereo or mono
Format: MPEG-4
Audio: AAC 44.1khz
Frame Rate: 10 - 30 (I had some sync issues so adjust this with your sound quality)

Hope this helps.
