My default screen is set to Hourly Conditions. My Current Conditions as well as the N day forecast updated properly. However, my Hourly Forecast screen has not updated since 7:25PM last night, and that was only updated because I manually pressed "Update Now".

Current/Homescreen Poll Interval: 30 mins
Forecast Poll Interval: 120 mins

Hey tateu. I think I know how you can easily get radar on this program. I actually downloaded the source code to BBWeather and played around with it in JDE for a few hours this afternoon, but I've never programmed, so I gave up. Anyways, here is how it can easily be done.

There is a URL that points to an image file that is updated in realtime. If you set some parameters of the URL to be a variable, then you can populate those variables using the location you want the radar for. The image URL can be manipulated to change the city, state, image size, animation (0, 1). You will also have to have some way to look up the approximate latitude and longitude of the city/state, as it uses the latitude and longitude to look up the image. For example, the following would be the link to view the Humble, TX radar to fit perfectly in PORTRAIT MODE:
http://www.accuweather.com/m/US/wigs.axd?city=HUMBLE&state=TX&w=350&h=470&type=_SIR&geoWidth=200&lat=29.99&lon=-95.18&anim=0&af=5
For anim=, set it to 0 for current radar, set it to 1 for animated radar
For af=, set it any value. A value of 5 animates the image to show the last 5 images.
I'm hoping you can just pull the image down from the web and display fullscreen in the program, as I don't want the browser to open.
So, the URL above will be for portrait version. When the phone switches to landscape mode, the image would have to be refreshed with an updated w= and h= value. For landscape mode, update the values from w=350&h=470 to w=470&h=350...Now it will show perfectly in landscape.

So, in summary, you can set those changeable values in the URL to variables, and populate them using the city/state/latitude/longitude data that you look up, and then you can manipulate the other variables for portrait mode/landscape mode/animated/non-animated/# of pictures in animation.

Also, I just figured out another parameter in the URL...The geoWidth=200 refers to the diameter around the city/state in miles. So, set at 200, it will show the radar 100 miles out in each direction, and if it is set at 100, it will show the radar out 50 miles out in each direction. In essence, the lower the number is set to, the more zoomed in the radar image will be. And vice versa. I would set that as a user-defined variable in settings too.

Hope this all makes sense and is easy to implement. Right now, I just have these URLs saved into my QuickLaunch, but I'd love them to be built into BBWeather.

Here is what they will look like:

Portrait Animated 5 images:
http://www.accuweather.com/m/US/wigs...18&anim=1&af=5

Portrait Non-Animated:
http://www.accuweather.com/m/US/wigs...18&anim=0&af=0

Landscape Animated 5 images:
http://www.accuweather.com/m/US/wigs...18&anim=1&af=5

Landscape Non-Animated:
http://www.accuweather.com/m/US/wigs...18&anim=0&af=0

Is this an official release yet? Did you ever add noaa alerts? The top 2 things I want in a weather app are radar and noaa alerts. If you haven't been able to add these yet..but plan to add it.. please let me know and I will make sure and check back! It seems everyone really likes your app and I really want to try it but need those 2 functions.. right now I am using accuweather and have no idea how these would compare to each other. input anyone?

Don't look for anything like an 'official release'. BBWeather started out as a free app w/no support and is likely to stay that way. tateu Was kind enough to pick up the ball and run with it when changes to the service BBWeather uses made it inoperable. tateu is doing this gratis for all, and most likely in his/her free time. If you're looking for something with animated radar and alerts, a good one I've used in the past is My-Cast (Garmin). I think it's $3.99/month and works well. If you're patient enough to wait, I wouldn't be surprised if the features you're looking for are added to BBWeather.

I have 0.84 installed on my 8330 and I love it. I only have one issue. I skimmed through here and I didn't see anything on it, but whenever I install or uninstall something through DM, BBWeather gets uninstalled as well, so I have to reinstall it. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug of some sort?

One nice option would be a choice for which buttons advance to the next screen...I find myself using 0 to scroll down (just out of habit), forgetting that 0 takes you to the next screen.

Maybe a user-selected option for 4 and 6 to take you to the previous/next screen (and for 0 to scroll down the page then) ...

Love the alpha version! Been running it for a couple of days with no problem.

Today, I get the following error: "Error - Current Conditions Thread: Expecting an element"

Anyone else seeing this, or is it just me? Does this for 3 different cities I have.

Answering my own question (sort of). I have to confirm this, but I believe my BES people did some monkeying last night.

When I select AUTO, it used to work, but today it doesn't. Changing the value to BIS manually works fine.

Hrrmmmmmm......

Default No updating

I woke up this morning to discover that BBWeather stopped working again.

Whenever I try and update I get the following error:

Code:
Error - Current Conditions Thread
Missing XOAP 'link' parameter in request
And this occurs with either .83 or .84 alpha

It appears that the feed from xoap.weather.com has changed.
This has happened before.

There are other threads open on this issue.

Default Stupid question...

I love the BBWeather app, keeps track of different cities, etc, and it's great for kayaking and photography.

On my home screen, I have the weather conditions icon with the temp. If I scroll over it, I get "46F Mostly Cloudy, w". I've searched and searched, what on earth does the "w" mean. It's there all the time, day and night, I only have two cities starting with T and P so it doesn't indicate any city. I feel like such a dunce, not being able to figure this out!!!

(w) is the shortcut key. From the main screen, you can press the W key and it will open your weather app. Not sure why it displays that way, but it does for all of the weather apps that I have used.

Thanks but that was also suggested over on Crackberry and doesn't work for me. I went to Phone> Options > General > DialFromHomeScreen > No > Save. I tap the w and get nothing, I hold the w and get voicemail. Strange how it works on some BBTours and not mine. That's what is so frustrating. I've PM'd the developer hoping for some type of answer.
