Default Sent messages from Outlook showing up in BB Inbox

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have a Bold on my company BES using Microsoft Exchange with Outlook. Some of the messages sent from Outlook show up in my blackberry Inbox, however, when I look at the message properties, it shows that the mesage is in the Sent Items folder.

In Outlook the message is in the sent folder. If I delete the message from my BB Inbox, then I lose the copy in the Exchange sent folder. When I try to file the message on the BB to the Sent folder, then it does not move.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Keith

This is working as designed.
What are you looking to change?

Do you not want the Outlook Sent message to show up on your device?

Thanks for your reply.

They are showing up in the Inbox as a new message rather than just being showing up in the Sent Folder.

For example, if I send a message from outlook to a recipient, in Outlook it will show up in the sent items folder. But, it will show up as a new unread message on my device. When I look at the details of the message on the device, it shows that it is in the sent folder, but still is sitting in my device inbox.

Also, this only happens when I send messages from Outlook on certain computers, but not all. It is not an issue if I send a message from the Outlook web interface.

I believe that what you are calling the Inbox on the blackberry is the Messages box - it is not a replica of your Outlook Inbox

Messages > Options > General Options > Hide Sent Messages = ??

There is no such thing as an INBOX on the BlackBerry. The Messages icon is for all messages. Send and Received.
You can hide the sent and filed messages if you choose. You can also prevent the send message from being reconciled to the device at all if you wish.

Again, what is your goal? Do you not want to see these sent messages on the device?
If so, just hide them using the setting mentioned above.

You are getting a copy of the reply you typed as an unread NEW email on your BB?

yes, I get a copy of the email I sent as a New email on my BB.

In response to Andi--Since my mail is on Outlook Exchange, I have a set of folders for my corporate email that includes an Inbox, Sent Items, etc.

Jsconyers--my settings are already set to hide the sent messages

What icon do these items have on the BB?

Right. Andi was just pointing out the Messages on your Blackberry is not (just) an inbox though it's a common mistake to assume that it is. You'd have to access the menu in Messages, choose View Folder and select your inbox to view your inbox.

Default same problem

Hi Keith

I am experiencing exactly the same issues as you in all scenarios...

Have you found a fix for this as of yet?

Thanks

DrKeith,

This is a known bug (though not known to some the people responding to this thread, apparently) with older versions of BES. I'm not sure of the actual version number of BES or patch level that fixes it. But I had the same problem until my BES admin upgraded the BES I use some time in the last year.

You should ask your BES admin to check with RIM on this.

We send an absurd amount of emails and this situation is driving my boss crazy!!! Each email we send from outlook drops into our blackberry. If you set up the (turn off sent messages) option on the blackberry it also blocks the text messages you send from your blackberry. We would like the items sent from the actual blackberry to show up on the phone not the items sent from our Outlook/Computer!
Are there any other options that anyone knows about?

Just turn off Folder Redirection for the Sent Messages folder.
Messages > Options > Email Settings > click menu button > Folder Redirection
Uncheck the Sent Messages folder. Save.

Penguin's method usually works but sometimes this needs to be done from the Enterprise server side. Talk to your BB Admin.
