Default Storm 2

Please Login to Remove!

I just saw the ad for the Storm 2 and one of the elements that caught my hearing was that the screen was way more responsive and no longer slow and sluggish like the Storm 1. I was curious... do you think that there will be an update for the Storm 1 to have this same quick responsive screen or is this a money thing and RIM could care less about Storm 1 users?

Doubtful. My guess is that the original will eventually go away.

So the obvious choice is to say screw Verizon if they don't appease us by giving us a phone that works and go with another cell phone company with WORKING smart phones then...?

Honestly, I would say that its less of a money thing and more of a hardware issue. The main reason why the Storm 2 is faster is because the physical memory was doubled over the Storm 1. No software update is going to be able to match that.

The Storm 2 has a different sensor system for the screen as well. No center point for pressing in. No dead zones. Sensors on all 4 sides. I've been typing on it for a couple days now and I am getting incredibly fast on it.

Is it as smooth as the iPhone?

Wirelessly posted

Much better in my opinion. It's as smooth with the added benefit of SurePress.

There will likely be an update in 5.0 for the Storm 1 to add the kinetic scrolling and that will go a long way toward making it feel smoother. There is a pretty great processor behind the Storm 1 RIM is just starting to use it properly with the Storm 2.
