Default Was the white screen problem ever solved?

Please Login to Remove!

There's been a few threads about the white-screen problem with the 9000, but seem to resolve it. I upgraded to 297 a couple of weeks ago and notice that when the phone was in holster and got an email, the screen turned blank when you removed the phone from the holster. Hit any key and you get main screen back, but it's a pain. Thinking about the holster and what it does -- puts the phone in standby mode -- I wondered if the problem was related to AutoStandy, which I have installed. I know others have had this problem, perhaps without Autostandby. On Crackberry (is it heresy to mention it here) there's a discussion about the white screen and regular standby/lock, being part of the problem. Here's part of it: "I have my phone set to lock and standby when holstered, if I do that, and receive a new email or sms while It is holstered, and pull It out, I have a white screen. If Iock and standby prior to holstering and get a new sms or email, I do not get the white screen." If I turn off Autostandy before I holster, I don't get the white screen coming out of the holster. Any explanations?

I just had the same issue with a colleague's 9000 phone. We initially thought it was the OS, we tried the beta 5.0.0.238, same white screen issues, we tried the latest 4.6.0.301 (I think), same issue. We eventually found out, after a few days that it was the battery that was causing the issue.

We changed the battery and the phone worked perfectly for hours with both OS, and no white screen no matter what we did. We put back the original battery, and here comes the white screen again. So for our issue, it turned out to be a battery problem.

Just thought I would share that so you can look into that as a possible troubleshooting option.l

May be your personal experience, but it's not universal. I have gotten the alleged white screen when pulling phone from holster with every OS build I've upgraded to since .167...and have been through two batteries. In fact, I just got my second battery replaced under warranty...and still get the white screen. I personally think it's an issue that has to do with the sleeper magnet in the holster...but that's just my thoughts.

Default White screen out of holster is back

Thought I had this solved, but the white screen is back. When I'm in a holster and get an email and pull the device out of the holster, the screen is white. Have to push a key -- any key -- to get the regular screen. Solutions anyone? None of the forums seems to have an answer and a lot of Bolds to have the problem. OS=297.

I'm having the same problem. I'm also on .297, but this also occurred on the (beta) OS I had previously installed. (I hoped upgrading to .297 would resolve it, but no such luck!)

Mine also occurs even unholstered - if the screen fades out while just sitting on my desk, sometimes when I hit a key to look at an email that's come in, I'll get the white screen.

Instead of the white screen, I sometimes get a screen that looks like rainbow-colored snow. The worst is when I get a call, pull it out of the holster, and have a white (or rainbow) screen and can't tell who is calling me!

This happened for a few weeks, then went away for a few weeks, and now is back. I've installed and uninstalled a few apps along the way, but nothing that I can correlate with triggering the start or stop of this annoying behavior!

Default Screen issue resolved...

I had the same issue up until yesterday, however I think I have fixed it by taking apart my Bold, detaching and re-attaching the screen from its connector to the main board. Please note, this may void your warranty...

That is just loose battery issues on BOLD. Try tightening the battery (putting tape, etc) so it wont move the slightest bit. I fixed mine with that.
