It's likely only for new lines.

It's with a 2 year agreement, but mine would have been a new line of service and I was unable to make the purchase. I spent the extra money and got it from Verizon on a 1 year agreement.

I'm new to Blackberry, thinking of getting the Tour. This deal on Amazon allows the option to choose a plan with Verizon.

Question - Do the plans include the data portion that gives you the push email? I'm a bit confused about what Amazon offers vs. the plans that Verizon has on their website.

Thanks,

Joe

When the book retailer Amazon first came on the scene, it introduced the online bookstore to us. This time round, it has taken that move one step further by offering its merchandise in electronic form. All this is done through a new wireless reading device called the Amazon Kindle. The stage is now set for complete electronic reading if you choose; yes, e-books electronically procured and read with an electronic reader.

The Kindle electronic reader is engineered to download blogs, books, newspapers, and magazines. Periodicals are automatically sent to the device. Technology has afforded us with a very practical alternative to holding a book, magazine or other reading material and turning from one page to another. The Amazon Kindle is indeed powerful and is only surpassed by its successor the Kindle 2.

I ordered a Tour this past weekend for $99, Family plan, and phones for wife and child, both for 1 cent. so far the experience has been positive. They had a sale this past weekend - free activation so I saved $35 per phone. Amazon gave me free two-day shipping. I got an email yesterday saying Verizon had activated the phones and they gave me the phone numbers (although I don't know which number belongs to which phone but they are sequential). So far so good. This means that when we arrive home on Saturday we will have phones ready and waiting, saving a trip to the Verizon store.

Yes, the Amazon plans have the data plan for $29.95. Once you choose your phone you put in your zip code so they can verify service in your area. Then you choose your plan, then there is a screen for plan add-ons, including the data plan. You do this for every phone you buy (if you order a family plan and more than one phone). I found the buying to be very smooth and intuitive, more so than buying from Verizon on-line.
