New to BB, long time windows smartphone user. I love this device and am glad I switched. I have 3 main issues with the phone: the 1st I resolved with a 3rd party app. The remaining are these:
1. Is there anyway to link sms conversations? With windows, sms would work like BB messanger. Currently on the BB, every sms text stands alone. I would like one conversation per person.
2. I have set all my notifications to 1 short vibe or none, yet my email still vibes twice (under option/ringer/messages it is set to 1 for all accounts).
1) as far as I know there is not. You might want to try a search on "threaded sms" or something similar and see what you find. I know it has been asked before.
2) I think the double vibe on email is the way the BB works. Can't say that I know of a way to change it. It isn't something I have ever bothered with or worried about. Can't remember reading much about it either.
I have my e-mail set to no ring/vibe at all (I get over 100 a day, an alert would drive me insane). Have you gone into Advanced in your Profiles as yet?

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll do a seach on threaded sms. I have tried everything on the sounds/profiles. I gues i'll just turn off alerts. Trying save precious battery life anyway possible (the only complaint I have).
I'll wait for 5.0. I tried Empower SMS...almost, but not quite. With a message open it does thread well, however, all still show as individual messages in the message folder. I want one conversation, like BB messaging! i could finad any other apps. Hopefully in 5.0!
Found a 3rd party app in the app store here: bchat 1.5. Not perfect, but better than stock. Basically turns SMS into chat/messenger. Only quirk is messages are still in message/sms folder. I'd rather have to delete from there than not have threaded texts. So , especially @ $.99!
You will get duplicate messages in bChat and the sms app because of RIM API limitations but to get rid of these duplicate messages this will work...
Go to options ->security -> firewall, and block sms, and then allow bChat to receive them the first time you receive a message after this. This will cause the message to only end up in bChat.
