Default Updating BES SBS to Pro on new w2k3 x64 machine

Please Login to Remove!

I think I know the answer to this but I want to check with you experts.

I currently have BES 4.1.4.3 for small business running on an old Windows 2003 server. I am adding a x64 Windows 2003 server running exchange2k7 on it. I need to transfer the BES SBS to the x64 box. What is my upgrade path?

1. Upgrade BES SBS 4.1.4.3 with 5 cals to 4.1.4.3 Enterprise using a trade up key (which also adds 5 licenses) (does the trade up just change the licensing or does it upgrade the server version as well? )
2. Perform knife edge migration to new server
3. Load BES 5.0 on the Windows 2003 x64 server (Does this require purchasing another license for bes?) Keep in mind we're loading the new version so it probably requires a new upgrade license...does an upgrade license work if its a new installation on a new box but you have an older version on a different box?

Am I thinking this through correctly?
So I need to buy a trade up key and a 5.0 upgrade license. Right?

You'll need to be at BES 4.1 SP5 to install on x64 ... but if you're knife-edging just go straight from BPS 4.1 SP4 to BES 5.

That said, BES 5.0 isn't supported on an Exchange server.

I don't know the details on the trade up, call your sales rep for details.

You could stay with the Version you currently have, and use vmware importer to clone the 2k3 server as a virtual machine to the new box.
If you have a BES SBS and not a BPS you can upgrade to 4.1.6 by downloading the upgrades from rim at no cost.
If you later want to upgrade to BES V5, buy an upgrade key, and, install as an upgrade over the existing 4.1.x Server.
