Default Can you trasnfer PDF, flv video, etc, to a Blackberry Curve?

Please Login to Remove!

I am getting a gift of a Blackberry curve 85-something (it is in the mail apparently). I don't know anything about blackberries.

Some features I would love would be if I could transfer .PDF e-books and video files (maybe FLV so it's smaller file size?) to the device for viewing while not on a computer; example, I have bought several training courses (business & marketing related) that I have not had time to dive into while on the computer, but would love to access them while offline.

Also, can it tell me my GPS coordinates? The ability to "mark" coordinates on a map would be awesome (example, if I was a mineral miner I could locate claim posts and map out the four corners of the claim).

Is this possible?

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

FlV - yes.

There are several free programs out their that you can convert to flv to a format conducive for blackberrs. Go to bbfaq on the top and click it. From there, look for media formats compatible with the BB, so you know what format you will need to convert your flv. I am on wap so its difficult for mes to send you links.

If it is the 8520, it won't work on Sprint. Right now, the 8520 is the only 85xx device available. You could be getting the 8330? or 8350i?

The receiver can definitely give you coordinates but that's all it does. Check the GPS forums for your options on GPS apps.

Default blackberry curve... something ;)

It must be 8350 then. She told me she got me a blackberry curve "85-something"... lol, so... it must be 8350. I could not find 85xx for sprint. I do know she bought it at BestBuy and on their website the only BB curves I could find were 8330 and 8350i.

Can either of those do what I want?

Thanks for your time everybody.

I confirmed it is the 8330. Does it have the features I was looking for?

You will need a BlackBerry data plan to get maps. And a media card to store the files you want like e-books. You should be able to read .pdf files with Documents To Go Premium ($30), and the BB will natively open *some* .pdf files. The Docs To Go Premium is on sale now and is your best solution. You need the Premium Edition to get the .pdf reader. You can get an 8GB memory card for about $15 from Amazon.com, or a 4GB one for about $5. That will handle a bunch of .pdf files without the need to convert them to a smaller format.
