To be precise this is not really using the Blackberry as a modem. You will not, for example, be able to connect to another modem. You will be able to connect to the Internet (which seems the predominant for modems these days. A better term for this is Tethering. It also may have a very lucrative meaning to your wireless provider so check first rather than paying later.

You can use this, if you mean, connecting a device (a.e laptop) over bluetooth, and then you can surf on the net over your BB's 3G network ;)

I agree. I have used mine while camping and at home. I live in the sticks I have no broadband avalible except sat. And for the price why? its handy for a larger screen and other things teathering isn't cable internet but it is internet when you have nothing else.
