hi, first off i just want to say im totally new to blackberry so excuse me if this is a dumb question.

i just bought a used Rogers blackberry bold from someone. i added the unlimited email plan that does not include data. the pin works and i've already successfully made a @rogers.blackberry.net email account.
my question is do i still need to get the previous owner to release the device from his account? because the strange thing is i got one of his previous email in my message box right after my data was activated. (even tho i already wipe the phone prior)

Previous owner needs to have the BIS account deleted.

You should be able to call the carrier and get it deleted as long as the phone is in your name probably dont have to have the previous owner call in to do it...

Not necessarily true. Some carriers will do it for the new owner, some will not. You need to be persistent but not a pest if you go that route.
