Default Latest OS: 8320 4.5.0.255/4.5.0.162 (EastAsia + English)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.255 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.255
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.162
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.103
* File name: 8320EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel255_PL2.7.0.103_A4.5.0.16 2_Vodafone_Essar_Limited.exe
* File size: 88.77MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...356FCC56D801D1

This download is from Vodafone Essar Limited but will work on ANY carrier's 8320 model BB. (Not 8300, 8310 or 8330)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

What could possibly be different in this from 4.5.0.254/4.5.0.161?

Is that why the app loader is reading it as a downgrade?

Wirelessly posted

After downloading, deleting vendor.xml, and connecting my berry, it says there's no update needed (I'm running 254... I have this thing where I MUST have the latest and greatest!!)

So, is it cause of the ap version?

That makes me glad I didn't spend the time "upgrading" from .161 to .162.

Does this OS allow for Japanese input, or is that still unavailable for the 8320?

TIA

I have OS 4.5.0.81, platform 2.7.0.78. Is there any advantage in upgrading to this later version? I'm not having any problems so I wonder if I should bother.

If you are not having any problems, there is no reason to upgrade.
