last month
blackberry 59,593MB
data access 32,113MB
i've been increasing the amount every month. i feel i'm limited by the weak browser the blackberry provides. i look @ the averages on the iphone and its between 100,000-400,000MB. let me know your findings. i want to pressure blackberry to update the browser on future models by leaps and bounds.

Your logic is terribly flawed.
Data is heavily compressed on the BlackBerry.

good point. do you know how much so compared to an iphone? still doesn't change the fact that i need a better browser. i'm productive on the messaging/calling side as i could ever want to be. the browser is my only complaint @ this point. any tips?

Version 5.0 of the BlackBerry OS should have a much improved browser... and the OS is due out "soon". There are some beta versions out and about, so it's not completely "vaporware".
There are also at least two other browser products for the BB platform: Opera Mini and Bolt. Check the Aftermarket Software forum for links... or Google them.

ummm.... 100,000MB-400,000MB how much pr0n do you download on your blackberry?
you do realize that you just said you use 100GB-400GB on your mobile device. I seed and leech torrents 24/7 with my desktop at home which never gets turned off and I usually hit ~100GB-400GB per month. There's no way you are doing that with your

The figure I have seen tossed around for compression is that BB browsing uses 25% of the data used by a non-BB accessing the same content.

That number was for the iphone not BB.
but the numbers are stupid. if it was 100,000 BYTES would make more sense.

Google "rogers iphone blackberry data chart"
It will give you an idea on how much BB data is compressed.

Man, I have a 500mb data plan and have never even come close to using it up ...... Part in thanks to wifi.
Those are some pretty insane numbers, even for an iPhone.

i'm with you on never letting it out of my hands. i'm always productive with my bold. i'm kind of a twitter monster too. ubertwitter is always running. i have 3 batteries to keep things running smooth. that's 1 reason i can't go iphone. you can't change the battery. i don't like using my phone to charge batteries either. i go external charger to keep me on the go.
