Is there a difference in speed whether you are using BIS or BES?

A connection is only as good as its weakest link.

In the case of Blackberry, processing power of the device, and the air interface, are the two weakest points.

This statement is not true... when you browse using the blackberry browser, all of the data goes through your BES server where it is compressed even more. This has been tested time and time again, and it definately is faster through a BES server.

cd.

^^ I'm not aware of addtional compression that occurs with BES. I'm aware of the added security (triple DES encryption), but that's it. I've used the browser in both BES and non-BES situations, and I've never noticed a performance difference.

I have unit on a BES and I find no difference in the Web browsing speed. With EVDO I imagine the differences will be even less.
