there was a pre-release heat/battery issue with teh bold and charging. however, RIM took care of that for safety reasons before they released it.

I made a post in a previous thread about this. I was playing tunes from pandora and noticed the device was considerably hotter. That's been the only time I noticed it happening

I had some overheating issues while browsing on 3g (os .247)and also while charging it was causing severe battery drain, however I was able to cure that by updating my os(266.) and alls been well ever since. You may either want to downgrade or upgrade from .247.

thats pretty much what i did , but mine was not hooked up to the charger it had a full charge and i let it stream music all night and woke up it was hot i mean as if it was sitting in the sun hot. is that normal for something simple as streaming music over 3G or do i need to worry.

Wasn't there someone else who posted that whilst on OS .190, they had this battery issue?

This has happened to me a couple of times, however, i feel that it MAY have been something to do with the OS. This happened to me only when i was .190. I went straight to .237 and now am on .266 and have not had this problem.

Maybe because you were streaming radio all night, the battery was drained? However, have you updated your OS? try that. it might just help? or before the battery goes kaput, you could get a replacement?

My Bold runs really hot too... Notably when tethered. I was not steaming music but just browsing about 7mb worth of data over an hour.

it means, that if it is running very hot when not in use, there is either a defective battery or bold.

the phone will cool down while charging assuming that it is idle. if it was idle, then it is definitely defective.

this is also assuming that there is nothing running in the background eating up the 3g line.

SO SIMPLY PUT!!

If the bold was idle and JUST CHARGING, it shouldnt have been hot. if it was hot, something is defective.
