Default Trackball select button doesn't work. Help?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, I have a problem with my trackball. The problem is that I can't use it to select anymore. I can scroll around with it just fine but I can't press it down to make selections anymore; the trackball is just kinda... sitting in there (doesn't seem like the springs are pushing the trackball back up). Has anyone ever had this problem and how would I go about fixing it?

Use this to remove the trackball http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...rl-8100-a.html Then check the metal "clip" on the bottom and see if its bent.

I removed the track ball assembly and oddly enough I don't even see that gold piece in the center that's in the picture. Wth? I don't hear it rattling around inside the phone either.

I am having this problem with a Pearl 8130. Pushing in on the trackball does nothing. I have tried cleaning it and the contacts underneath it all look fine.

In addition to the problem with the trackball, it also has a problem with key presses that require two keys to be pressed at the same time. For example, I can't hold down shift to type a series of capital letters.

As far as I know there has been know water damages, the water indicators are not red.

Me too.
I have a Pearl 8120 and when I click the ball it does nothing.
Also have the same problem typing with 2 keys @ once. Really inconvenient when trying to type numbers.

Just restored an old backup file from 3 months ago.

Nothing.

There is a step by step in this somewhere I will have to search for a link. It's fairly recent. You will not see the Gold contact. It is now under a piece of plastic. The plastic film is square, you have to carefully peel it back using a pin, do NOT remove it completly, just enough to expose the round metal contact underneath, clean the contact and replace the film using something small but blunt to stick it back in place. Do not loose the alignment on the film or the contact or it will not work. I have done this and sucessfully resurected "clicking" or enter on two out of two BB's.

Post back with the link.
