Default Cradlepoint PHS300 and Verizon BB 8830??

Please Login to Remove!

I did a search and did not find any responses, so I apologize if this has been asked before.

Verizon is notorious for disabling things like bluetooth tethering and the like, so I'm suspicious when Cradlepoint says their personal wifi device is compatible with the Verizon 8830.

Simple question: Is anyone successfully using their Verizon (NOT Sprint) 8830 with the Cradelpoint PHS300 personal hotspot?

Thanks in advance.

Craig.

I'd be interested to know as well. The cradle points are not well known, but should be. Dlink makes a router capable of this type of teathering as well. Model DIR415 i think..

My Verizon BB8830 works fine with my Cradlepoint CTR350 and MBR1000. I assume that the PHS300 would be similar, but I don't own one to try it. In case it matters, the BB is running 4.2.2.196

I do have the "MOBILE BROADBAND CONNECT" feature on my line. That's probably necessary. It's an extra $15/month.

Thank you very much. I also assume that the broadband connect feature from Verizon is necessary and already use that to tether the 8830 to my laptop.

Now that the kids have laptops, they are jealous of my mobile broadband connection and this looks like a viable way to share it.

I'm running 4.2.2.176. I'll upgrade if I run into any problems.

Best wishes.

Craig.
