Ok, I got this reply within 20 minutes, so I'm guessing they're getting tired of hearing from us!

"We'd love to support many more phones in the future, but we really can't be sure how long the process will take for each phone. For now if you want to be sure you can use Pandora On-the-Go, pick one of the phones on our currently supported list. I will add your phone to our requests though and hopefully we can support it sometime soon.

Sorry about that. Thanks for writing in!

New Reply from Mike at Pandora

Thanks very much for writing. We really appreciate your Blackberry
Storm suggestion. We're currently working to bring Pandora to more
devices.

I would encourage you to stay tuned to our "On the Go" page for
updates: www dot pandora dot com/on-the-go Thanks for listening in the meantime!

Best,
Mike @ Pandora

Rather than having this posted on a Storm thread, wouldn't it make more sense to have it on a Sprint or AT&T thread since those are the carriers that Pandora is already working with? I know how restrictive Verizon is with allowing 3rd party apps.

It is not a Verizon thing it is a Pandora thing...to my knowledge they have not developed a software package that is compatible with the blackberry.

for those pandora lovers out there... i have one word for you.... SLACKER
lol
3 w's + slacker dot com
it works very very much like pandora.. it doesn't let you playback. and you do have to pay for a commercial free version, (47$ for a year) but even the free version they have for BB only plays a commerical about every 10 songs and its a short slacker commerical.
my hubby works for AT&T and has installed it on all of his stores BB displays...
go to slacker dot com right from your BB browser and it will ask you to install from there... very easy, user friendly and great customer service.

it will let you create new stations based on your favorite band and it also has its own streaming stations based on genres.

its not quite pandora... but its the best i've found and has a free version that works just as great!!!

Slacker is definitely the alternate option for BB users. Even with the presence of Slacker, I still find myself wanting Pandora. You can't beat the algorithm used to pick songs.

I use Slacker on my Curve but I don't like it. I prefer Pandora on my iPod touch by far. Pandora cannot be beat for Internet radio.

Try FlyCast:

flycast.fm/FlyCastHOME.aspx

Over 1200 radio stations direct streaming to your BlackBerry (if your model is supported).

I heard they were working on one as of fall of '07 if I recall correctly. I do hope they make it bold compatible as well! I perfer the pandora recommending/receipe station solution and I would definitely pay the 3.99 monthly for it!

emailed about the Bols specifically and recieved the following response:

Each version of Pandora software for a portable device needs to be separately developed. Software for PDA devices like yours require extensive testing before they can be certified by the carriers. Unfortunately that means some delays before Pandora will be available on them. I don't know how long it will be for Blackberrys - or if it will be available from your carrier. I can tell you this is a VERY popular request and we ARE working on a Pandora application for many Blackberry models with the various carriers.

To check on the status of on the go devices - please visit www pandora com/on-the-go

Thank you for writing. We value your feedback and we read every email.

This is supposedly out now for Blackberrys, but they have some problems. You enter in your phone number and they SMS text you the "download instructions". After a few hours I get a message directing me to open www.pandora.com on my phone's browser. It's just the main page with no download links and is mostly blank because their front page consists of a large java-based music playing app.

I emailed them explaining that their message has no link to a downloadable version and that they should either fix the messages they send or make it downloadable from their webpage to be loaded with DM. I have a Bold which is listed as a working model with it. I really want to try it out but I have other things to do besides wait for them to get their act together. Guess I'll give slacker a try.

Edit: IGNORE MY ABOVE. My browser had been changed to broadcast it was Firefox. Changing it back to Blackberry made it pull up the download page. Installing it now. So they are working fine, I am the problem ALso, their service reps emailed back lightning fast which is great! (I figured out the Firefox/Blackberry thing before I got the email, but still!)

Pandora runs much smoother for me. Eats less battery. I concur with the algorithim issue. I hope Slacker improves. Competition is good
