Default Full T-Mobile Functionality

Please Login to Remove!

Before I ask anything, I want to apologize if this has been (and most likely has) butchered to death.
I've searched for everything I could possibly think of before asking any questions.

Coming from the 8800 which I am extremely familiar with (credit to the fellow users on this site), it's hard to say that with my newly purchased AT&T Bold. I understand that AT&T has removed some functions, so my question is:

What do I need to do to utilize T-Mobile functionality on this non-T-Mobile phone?

I was assuming an upgrade of the OS followed by Stinsondog's "vendor manipulating" to save on memory would set this phone to "normal" but I saw a few threads regarding debranding (which I may have to do to switch to 2G). Perhaps, that's the solution, but I'm afraid of voiding the warranty.

Please bear with me. I just want to be able to fully appreciate my new phone. :(

Just keep in mind that will only have EDGE capability using an ATT Bold on TMO. TMO uses a different 3G freq that is not on the device.

Thanks for the link, Midnight!
Dub, does that only apply to the AT&T Bold, or they all technically the same? I was under the impression that all Bolds have the same hardware but the OS & vendor codes were different.

The hardware for the bold is the same where ever, but T-mob's 3G frequencies are different; and so the hardware doesn't have the ability to read those frequencies.

TMO uses the 1700 mHz band and is the only carrier, so far, to do so. Hence no other carrier is compatible. EDGE should work just fine.

I don't think there are any TMO 3G devices yet released either. Anyone know?

Cool beans! That's what I initially thought.

I will follow the instructions on the link and let ya'll know how it turns out.
Are there any precautions I should know about that I may be aware of?

No T-Mobile BlackBerry devices AFAIK. The G1 is a 3G device for T-Mobile.

So my plan was to load OS .247, followed by debranding, then finalized with the memory tweak. I didn't get past step 1.

Okay, I'm having a very hard time trying to reload OS .247 onto my phone.
My first and all subsequent attempts failed. During the step "Wait for device initialization" when it says "Reconnecting to JVM" my phone gets the rectangle/circle icon and "Reload Software 507" on a white screen.
I tried a few more times (yes, I did delete the Vendor.html) and all attempts resulted in the same outcome.

So, I decided to "JL_Cmder wipe > Reload OS" and that didn't even work. My phone is stuck on that white screen.

I hope I didn't toast my phone... I believe I didn't since the 507 error just denotes a lack of OS, right? :/
What should I do now? :(

I did find this thread which sounds like the exact same issue.
Did I not wipe my phone correctly? It did say it was successfully at wiping. Does not connecting mean the same as not wiping correctly?

So, I decided to wipe the device a couple times and then reinstalling the OS.
Somehow, it decided to work. So far so good... I guess I just had to keep trying?
