The bailout
Please Login to Remove!
Trillions, and trillions of dollars later will it work?
Will banks start loaning money, will houses be saved, will jobs be created?
Are we going to need a zillion dollar bailout a few years from now to fix the trillion dollar bailout waste?

It's a bunch of crap, obviously even the financial 'xperts that be and the markets, don't even have faith that it will do anything towards propping up our economy.

uhhh, Lindsay, I think President Jackson already fought nationalizing the banks. Or was my history wrong?
Besides, Graham is a goofball. He has other issues.

I agree JS... I do not think this is going to do anything... Currently people can't get loan to buy a house, refinance a house, get a car loan ect....
I don't see this gazillion dollars doing anything to solve that...
Sad as once this money is pissed into the wind, our children's, children will be repaying it for centuries to come...

Everyone does, he always comes accross to me as goofy but I do give him credit as the only person in Congress that serve in the Reserves.
The Gov. of SC & Louisiana are talkign about refusing the money from the Federal Govt. No way that happens I think. Gov. Sanford is already under attack for wanting to cut off unemployment because they have no money and to refuse Fed money I think would kill him politically.
In both cases its seen as a political stunt and the state legislature would overrule them and take the money. especially since the taxpayers will not get any breaks in not taking it.

The bailout is complete BS. All of these "bailouts" are BS. Will the banks loan out the money? Who knows. Should they, YES! Who is overseeing where the money is going, how it is handled?
These banks gave out loans to people that were not qualified for them. Why are they being bailed out? It was their own fault that they're in the predicament that they're in. The mortgage companies pushing ARM's, approving people for loans they knew they couldn't afford, yet we are stuck saving them?
There is way too much money being spent with no real oversight to "save the economy". I doubt it will help the economy, houses most likely will not be saved, how can they if they banks don't lend the money?
This money could be going to more useful things to help boost the economy. New infrastructures, new technologies, research, education, creating new jobs. I say let the banks bite the bullet. They made their beds, let them sleep in them. Yes, people will lose their homes, yes times will be tough. People are losing their homes now, times are tough now! The banks mishandled the money originally, who is to say they won't do it again.
I am by no means an economist of any sort. This is just my 2 cents.

you cannot force the banks to make loans unless your willing to move towards nationalizing them. The investment already made is far from enough to make them do anything. They are in it for the profits not as a community service, its the great Free Market system.

So now you want them to run our money and our health care oh boy... John Adams would roll over in his grave.

No, I do not but dawg you cannot have it both ways, if you want to force them to do anything then you have to invest in them. They are in it for profit and will not simply start loaning because people want them to. And my statements about nationalizing the banks are coming from both republicans and democrats although I think the majority of the politicians do not want to do it, nor do I want to see it.

I love how exactly no one so far thinks this is a good idea, and it'll happen anyway. Change my butt. Let's just set fire to giant piles of money.
