Click the "Profiles" icon from the main screen. You can configure alerting for almost everything there -- You can even use ringtones for incoming emails if you want.

Or just use ringtones for phone calls -- and vibrate only for emails. Or nothing at all except vibrate only on high priority emails (or from certain people -- you can customize filters so that you only get alerts when you receive email from certain people by automatically upgrading them to Level 1)

Go into profiles where you can set up any sound alert you want for both in and out of holsters for email, calendar, tasks, etc.

BB is VERY versitile in this respect. Just edit you default profile any way you want.

Under messages, click volume and change from mute to low, medium or high.

THat should do it.

I have the same problem...I've changed all the profiles to alert me and turned up all the volume. Still, no audible alert when emails come. I do get alerts that vibrate in the holster though. Help?

To have it ring, make sure that you do two things in Profiles:
1. Set a volume level (not Mute), and
2. Set it to Vibrate and Tone, or Tone (not just Vibrate)
Lastly, make sure that you did this for "Out of Holster and "In Holster" (second half of screen), according to what you want to happen.
Do all the above, it should work.

I've done all that for all the audible profiles I use and still no luck. I really have no clue what the problem is. I've had a blackberry before and never had this kind of issue. Anyone else have this problem?
