Default Ghost user?

Please Login to Remove!

Blackberry Manager 4.1.4.15
Windows 2003 R2 SP2
Exchange 2003 SP2

I deleted a user from the system (Blackberry and AD) on Friday. I cam in this morning to 300+ email from the Blackberry server saying 1 user failed to initialize. Checking the event viewer showed it to be the user I deleted on Friday. Checking the home page shows I have 14 users, counting on the Users page only aounts to 13. I am still getting the email every 13 minutes even though I have rebooted both Exchange and Balckberry servers.

Is the user still in the pending delete queue?

Thanks for the reply. No - I had already purged it from ESM. However I seem to have cured it - Added a different user which increased Home page count to 15 and then deleted that account which brought it back down to 13. I did get a couple of warnings in the application event log:

ID 20314
{username} DeviceID used to be 123456AB but is now blank
ID 20301
{username} Unable to save configuration setting or statistics
ID 20400
{A} MAPIMailbox::RemovePagerDatabase - OpenMsgStore (0x8004011d) failed, MailboxDN=/o=Comany/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipient/cn=username, ServerDN=/o=Company/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=SERVERNAME/cn=Microsoft Private MDB

I have been having trouble activating this user for some time, although I think it is an Exchange problem as opposed to a BES problem as I can't send or recieve from this account using Outlook.

If you cannot send/receive mail to/from the user, then EA won't work. For part of the EA process, an email from RIM is sent to user's mailfile then retrieved. If mail is not working in general, this step of EA will fail, and the whole process will give up...

^^ What Jadey said. BES relies on Outlook to function so it can function as well. Sounds like a pooched mailbox to me.

Have you tried backing up his mailbox to a PST, creating a new mailbox, try the EA again, if successful import the data back into the new mailbox?

It's worth a shot.

Default Solved

The problem was our Spam Filter uses Active Directory and was looking at a server that was de-commissioned some weeks ago. When the new user was added he couldn't be found so incoming mail sat at the categorizer. Pointed it to the new DC and 'hey presto' everything worked.

Just goes to show that everything is so interconnected that the troubleshooting becomes a nightmare!
