Default Poor battery life or GPS?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a bit ticked off now because my Curve just went from full battery in the morning to nearly dead before 5pm. The only thing I can think is that for 20 minutes I used the GPS program to see how it would work. Other than that I sent some emails, made maybe 1 or two calls, and used BT for maybe 30 minutes.

Is this the phone/battery or just a case of don't use the GPS unless you have a car adapter?

Could be GPS which application are you using...
If the GPS app is actively running it will constantly update your position and download/process maps.

I had the SprintNav app running which I think is based on Telenav. So, is the general rule of thumb for all phones to not use GPS without a cable? My only experience with GPS is with a dedicated unit and that always ran on a cable of course.

It kind of shocked me because I thought I had about 50% left after the trip around noon, then around 4pm it's at 10%.

Make sure you stop navigation/gps tracking and close the app. If not it runs in the background and will drain you; I found out the hard way. Lolz. Enjoy your phone

Now that I could understand but I was sure I closed the app. The only thing I can think of is I did use the BB browser to search something on Yahoo and that was left running because it came back to Yahoo when I switched. But I didn't think that would drain the battery.

Yes definitely make sure that you close the GPS aPp after you ise it. I forgot to do that once and it takes a significant toll on your battery. So next time CLOSE THE APP

Always make sure you hit the "option" button then scroll down to "Close".

If you just click the "end" button the program will still run in the background.

no, a regular yahoo web page would not drain your battery. if you had a web page open that, for instance, was a self-updating weather radar screen, then this would drain your battery.

good advice above. be sure the app in question is actually closed when you're done using it

check your dBm also, if your phone is struggling for a signal it will use more power trying to keep a weak signal.
My p/t job i'm inside a metal building with one bar, and starting with a full charge in the AM, by 4p im at 40% battery.

hope this helps....

Using a GPS app for 20 minutes can definitely put a dent in your battery. If you're actually using the GPS app in your can then be sure to have a char charger connected.
