Question

Okay so my husband and I both have the 8320 with T-Mobile. I ran the update first on my phone it was seamless. He ran the update after I did and it returned a fatal error and told him to do the restore. The restore is not working, what do we do now?

Any help would be terrific!

I upgraded Wednesday. In my experience, it's much better on memory utilization -- I'm at 10MB now and haven't rebooted since last night. On 110[?] I seemed to get down under 1MB in a day or two and was never above 10MB.

I'm having issues with UMA calls. I seem to get a lot more drops and/or random switches to EDGE, but I've been having problems with my Internet connection, so I'm not 100% sure it's the new OS. If it continues, I'll switch back to 110 and see if that fixes it.

Ran into the same problem on my second 8320. I wasn't able to restore after the fatal error on my home machine. (Vista, DM 4.7, BB OS 4.5)

I was able to restore the OS using a PC at work without problems. (XP, DM 4.3, BB OS 4.2)

I installed the file and followed the directions but when the apploader popped it wouldn't detect my blackberry.
My only option is COM1 & the auto detect box. I've tried both but still no go.

I have an 8320.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Lightbulb Additional Input Languages

Hi, I've just installed the latest version
8320 4.5.0.174/4.5.0.124 (English & East Asian) and lost two addtl. input languages that I used to have (russian and hebrew)

Is there a way to add languages from a previous version of the OS (8320-v4.5.0.110_P2.7.0.90 that was Multilanguage)?

Thank you,
Alex

Got a question. In the About option after upgrading is this correct: v4.5.0.81 (platform 2.7.0.92????

I would have thought that it would say .124???

Anyone have any suggestions?

Looks like you upgraded to 4.5.0.81. The upgrade in this thread wasn't applied. Did you use Desktop manager or did you follow the instructions in this thread?

I actually followed the direction from another forum
I upgraded to .81 back in October...and the other day specifically went to the .124 folder and made sure I ran App Loader on the .axl file (is that it?)

Should I remove .81 from the computer and save it maybe on the desktop...and then re-download .124 and try again?

DM didn't even locate the stupid file, so that is what prompted me to locate the .axl file in the folder and execute it. It popped up in DM as .124 but when I checked ABOUT it's showing what I specified in my post above.

Any suggestions?

Ok, I deleted .81 from my computer and the .124 and redownloaded.
Just checked and the correct OS is now on the Berry. COOL!

I haven't. Sorry. But I do know there are a lot of people who are having this issue. I've seen it suggested to pull the battery for a full minute and see if that helps, then to uninstall the new OS and reinstall.

I hope you get a fix soon

I am having that problem. Twice now my 8320 has turned off, and will not turn back on, and a battery pull is required to restart.

My friend has an 8120 and has had the same issues.

Geez its weird. I don't know what happen, but it may be stupid.

If I put my 8320 into silicon case.my bb will start its restart problem. So yesterday, I took off silicone case. And it never restart anymore. But when I put it on the silicone case, here we go, restart coming again.

Hemm, well I bought 2nd hand 8320. And the keyboard light won't turn on when I am typing. There's one store told me about the ic sensor is broken.

Does the broken part has relation to the restart problem..

Geez its been troubling me this week.
Update : I've just been out, and put BB in my pocket. Well it turn off again, 3 times *sigh*

Does an OS upgrade mean i also have to re-install my 3rd party apps and reset-up my corporate email?

so I ran the update and it installed and rebooted and is up and running with no issues short of 1 thing...

I can no longer get it to sync over usb... I reinstalled the USB driver and updated to the latest software as well on the pc, but I cannot get it to sync and I use the USB to charge at work and it will not accept the connection..

Any Clues?

I can still sync over Bluetooth which recovered all my important data, but I kind of need the usb to work properly for charging and it isn't... I am also having issues where it will just stop charging when I plug it into the wall.. none of this was an issue until I ran the update..

3rd party apps will be backed up and restored though you will lose the data in the 3rd party apps.

As for corporate email, yes, you'll have to re activate on the BES afterwards. Check with your IT fept before upgrading.

rex, it sounds like any sort of strain put on the BB case causes it to restart. It's possible that there's a loose connection in the wiring/electronics somewhere and it's possible that squeezing it causes the connection to short out.

Have you tried (lightly) squeezing it for a little bit to see if you can force it to reboot?

I upgraded from .110 this weekend. Went smoothly. Free memory started out at almost 15MB...higher than .110 ever was. It has dwindled to 11MB, but I'd regularly get down under 5MB with .110...so looking muchh better on memory front.
